Waste Categories

Waste Categories

Overview

Waste categories classify waste for waste tracking, used by ElWaste. They work just like Categories: each one has a title, an optional code and description, and they support nesting — so you can group sub-categories under a parent.

Requirements

  • Permission to view waste categories
  • Permission to create waste categories

Steps

Open Waste Categories

Open Waste Categories from the sidebar. The list shows each category’s Code, Title, number of Subcategories, a Products column, and its Status.

The waste category list.

Add a waste category

Select Add Waste Category in the top-right.

Add Waste Category.

Fill in the details

In the Add Waste Category form:

  • Language — choose the language you’re entering the title and description in (English or Arabic). To add the title in both languages, save it once per language.
  • Category Code (optional) — a code for the category.
  • Category Title (optional) — the category name.
  • Category Description (optional) — a short description.
Choose the language, then enter the code, title, and description.

Save

Click Save to create the waste category. It appears in the list.

Create a sub-category

To nest a category under another, click the parent’s row in the table to open it, then click Add Waste Category from there — the new one is created as a sub-category of it. Its parent’s Subcategories count goes up by one.

View the products in a category

Click the eye icon in the Products column on a category’s row to open the View Waste Category window, which lists the products assigned to that waste category.

The products assigned to this waste category.

Notes

Waste categories form a nestable hierarchy, similar to Categories. Create a category from the main list to make it top-level, or open a category first and add from there to nest it underneath.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see or create waste categories, confirm you have permission to view and create waste categories.
