Syncing

Overview

Syncing keeps the device and the cloud in step, in two directions, and both happen automatically whenever there’s an internet connection:

  • Dashboard changes come down — menu, product, price, and settings updates made in POS Admin reach the device automatically when it’s online.
  • Orders go up — as you add items to an order, and again once it’s completed, the order syncs up automatically so the brand owner sees live updates on the dashboard.

If there’s no connection at that moment, nothing is lost — the device keeps working offline, and everything syncs as soon as the connection returns. You can also sync by hand at any time from the eatabill logo in the header.

Requirements

  • Logged in to the POS app
  • An internet connection for sync to happen in real time (the device works offline too — see Notes)

Steps

Check the connection indicator

The dot next to the eatabill logo in the header shows the connection status — green means the device is online.

The green dot means the device is online.
Tap the logo to see connection details.

Open Connection Info

Tap the eatabill logo to open Connection Info. It shows the internet status, the last sync time, the number of unsynced orders, whether there are unsynced dashboard updates, the device’s IP address, and the app version.

Internet status, last sync, unsynced orders and updates, IP address, and version.

On a SubPOS, Connection Info shows one more line: Main Cashier — whether it’s connected to its MainPOS over the local network.

On a SubPOS: Internet status, Main Cashier, Last Sync, Unsynced orders, IP Address, Version.

Sync now

Tap Sync Now to sync by hand.

Sync Now is disabled in two cases: if there’s nothing to sync (no unsynced orders and no unsynced dashboard updates), or if you’re in the middle of working an order — a note above the button reads “Cannot sync while an order is being worked on. Please complete or hold the order first.” Complete or hold the order, then try again.

"Cannot sync while an order is being worked on."
Sync Data runs.
Once it finishes, all updates appear on the till.

Notes

Dashboard changes (menu, products, prices, settings) sync down automatically whenever the device has internet — you don’t need to trigger it yourself.

Orders sync up automatically too: while you’re adding items to an order, and again once it’s completed, so the brand owner can see live updates on the dashboard — as long as the device is online at that moment.

No connection when an order is being built or completed? It’s saved on the device and syncs automatically as soon as the connection comes back — nothing is lost.

A SubPOS doesn’t sync with the cloud directly — it gets its data through its MainPOS on the local network. See Connecting a SubPOS.

Troubleshooting

Sync Now greyed out? Either there’s nothing to sync (no unsynced orders or dashboard updates), or an order is still being worked on — check for the note above the button and complete or hold that order first.

Internet status shows “Disconnected” in Connection Info? Check the device’s Wi-Fi or network connection, then try Sync Now again once it’s back.

Unsynced orders count staying above zero? The device has orders waiting to upload — confirm it’s online, then tap Sync Now. On a SubPOS, make sure its MainPOS is on and reachable.

Recent dashboard changes not showing on the device? Check “Unsynced Dashboard Updates” in Connection Info — if it says Yes, tap Sync Now to pull them down.
