Connecting a SubPOS

Overview

A SubPOS pairs through the MainPOS on the same local network rather than directly to the cloud. The SubPOS waits for the MainPOS to connect to it by its local IP address; once connected, you enter the SubPOS’s activation code on the SubPOS itself, and it syncs its data just like a MainPOS.

Requirements

  • A MainPOS already paired, on, and running
  • Both devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network
  • The SubPOS device’s 6-character activation code (from POS Admin → Devices, issued when the request is accepted)

Steps

Choose Sub POS Activation

On the tablet’s Device Activation screen, choose Sub POS Activation.

Choose Sub POS Activation.

Wait for the MainPOS to connect

The SubPOS shows Not Connected with POS, along with its own local IP address. It waits here for the MainPOS to connect to it.

The SubPOS waits, showing its IP address.

Connect to it from the MainPOS

On the MainPOS, open Settings → SubCashier, add this SubPOS using the IP address shown, and tap Connect — see SubCashier for the full steps.

Enter the activation code

Once the MainPOS connects, the SubPOS shows Sub-Cashier Activation with an Activation Code field. Type the SubPOS’s 6-character activation code and tap Activate.

Enter the activation code and tap Activate.

Ready to use

The SubPOS syncs its data — menus, users, and settings — the same way a MainPOS does. Once it finishes, it’s ready to take orders.

Notes

SubPOS devices depend on a running MainPOS. If the MainPOS goes offline or leaves the network, the SubPOS cannot operate.

A SubPOS never manages the business day — the day is started and ended from the MainPOS. See Business Day.

Troubleshooting

Stuck on “Not Connected with POS”? Go to the MainPOS’s Settings → SubCashier and connect to this SubPOS using the IP address shown here. Confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Activation code rejected? Confirm it’s the correct 6-character code for this device from Devices, and that the MainPOS is connected to it first.
