Promo Codes

Overview

Promo codes allow customers to receive discounts by providing a valid code to a staff member. The staff member enters the code while creating the customer’s order in the POS application, and the discount is applied automatically. You can configure validity dates, usage limits, and restrict each promo code to specific products, locations, customers, order types, order channels, or payment methods.

Apply Before Tax Option

When enabled (default), the voucher is applied before tax like a promo coupon: it lowers the taxable amount, so the VAT goes down with it. When disabled, the voucher acts as an after-tax gift card / cash credit: the full VAT is still charged and reported to the government, and the voucher only reduces the amount the customer pays at checkout.

Notes

Promo usage syncs to POS devices, so usage limits are enforced across all devices once sync completes.

Troubleshooting

If a code is rejected at the POS, confirm it is within its validity dates, under its usage limit, and in scope for the order, then allow the device to sync.
