Devices

Overview

Devices shows the devices you have and their status. Each device has a status (active or disabled) and a pair status (paired or unpaired), so you can see at a glance which devices are active and paired, active and unpaired, disabled and unpaired, and so on.

You request new devices here, and once a device is activated you assign it to a location.

Requirements

  • Permission to view devices

Steps

Open Devices

Open Devices from the POS Admin sidebar.

Your devices and their status.

Request a new device

Click the Request New Device button to open the request modal.

Request a new device.

Name it and choose the type

Type a name for the device, then select the device type: Main POS, Sub POS, or KDS.

Type a name for the device.
Choose Main POS, Sub POS, or KDS.

Each location can have only one Main POS device. If a location already has one, the add button inside that location is disabled — though you can still request the device. For more terminals in the same location, request a Sub POS (you can add more than one), and the same goes for KDS. Choose the type carefully.

Save the request

Click Save. The device appears in the table with no activation code, a status of Disabled, and a pair status of Unpaired. No activation code means the device hasn’t been activated yet.

The device appears as disabled and unpaired, with no activation code.

After you request a device, it is processed and the support team contacts you shortly. The device is then accepted or rejected. If it’s accepted, you receive an email confirming it’s activated, and it gets an activation code.

Keep the activation code secret — don’t share it with anyone. It’s generated only once and stays the device’s code: the same code re-activates the same device, including after moving it to another location. While the device is paired, the code can’t be used on another device at the same time. To get a new code, contact support to rotate the activation code.

Assign the device to a location

Once the device is activated, assign it to a location. You can do this from the Locations page, or from here:

Select the device

Check the checkbox at the start of the device’s row. An Actions button appears.

Select the device with the checkbox.

Open the Actions menu

Click the Actions button.

The Actions menu for selected devices.

Assign the location

Click Assign Location to open the modal, select the location you want, and click Save.

Select a location and save.

From the Actions menu you can also bulk assign devices to a location, or bulk delete, disable, or enable them.

Notes

A device with no activation code hasn’t been activated yet. It’s activated after the support team accepts your request.

A paired device can’t be paired again. To use the same device in a different location, first unpair it and remove it from its current location, then assign it to the new location and pair it from the start.

Troubleshooting

The add button is disabled inside a location? That location already has a Main POS device — each location can have only one. Request a Sub POS instead for additional terminals.

A device has no activation code? Your request is still being processed, or hasn’t been accepted yet. The support team will contact you.
